About the Role

Opendoor is looking for a senior software engineer to build production systems that real customers and real money depend on. You’ll own features end-to-end, contribute to system-wide decisions, and collaborate across product and infrastructure to ship impactful work. This role emphasizes high-trust, low-boundary collaboration and a hands-on approach to delivery.

What You'll Do

• Build production systems that real customers and real money depend on

• Own features end-to-end, from design through deployment and beyond

• Lead and participate in technical design reviews

• Use AI tools daily and help push them further than anyone else in the industry

• Review code, mentor teammates, and raise the bar on everything around you

• Bridge the gap between infrastructure and product

• What We're Looking For

• Deep software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems others depend on

• Strong fundamentals in at least one general-purpose language; comfortable picking up new ones

• Experience with relational databases and ability to reason about performance at scale

• Based in or willing to relocate to Miami, Toronto, or Seattle

• Language-agnostic approach; deep expertise in a stack but willing to learn new ones

• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders and land them

• Familiarity with designing for high-trust, low-boundary environments and end-to-end ownership

• Nice to Have

• T-shaped with adjacent-area expertise and strong point of view on how it applies here

• Experience operating with distributed systems, architecture tradeoffs

• Experience integrating and championing AI tools in daily workflow
