​​Within Microsoft Fabric, the Data Analytics team is looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer. We deliver the core analytics experiences that allow customers to turn data into insight and action. Spanning data engineering, data warehousing, data science, and AI, this team enables end-to-end scenarios on a single, unified platform. By bringing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data together, the team is advancing our mission to provide a seamless analytics experience that drives real business impact at enterprise scale.​

​​​DW Swift is a full-stack engineering team within Fabric SQL Data Warehouse, focused on building world-class infrastructure and engineering systems to accelerate feature development and delivery for the next-generation SaaS Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Our immediate mission is to enable rapid, predictable, and high-quality product releases by driving core changes across both the product and its surrounding systems. This includes designing and implementing next-gen infrastructure that empowers fast, reliable development cycles.

We’re tackling complex challenges such as deployment automation, cluster provisioning, branching strategies, and robust validation pipelines—leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including AI, to shift quality left and streamline engineering workflows. Our work spans multiple teams and components across the Fabric SQL Data Warehouse and SQL Server ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on serving internal stakeholders like engineers and release managers.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly reliable distributed environments and enable engineers to rapidly deploy bits and verify their changes end to end
• Design, develop and maintain highly reliable engineering systems and infrastructure that enable building world class products leveraging new technologies and AI
• Work with a large set of engineers across orgs and teams to troubleshoot issues, find root causes and bring them to closure
• Support development teams and internal stakeholders by maintaining and running tight and efficient engineering systems and services
• Partner with stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical leads) to define product requirements and create technical designs for future product capabilities
• Collaborate with, mentor, and influence members within the team and across other teams at Microsoft
• Lead by example in producing extensible and maintainable code with a focus on security, reliability, diagnosability, and performance
• Lead design discussions with the team and share learnings from investigations, holding ownership for design decisions
• Contribute to the product vision, roadmap, architecture, and planning
• Participate in on-call rotation for maintaining service health along with other things​

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience.

• Experience working on infrastructure, engineering systems, and deployments supporting development of largescale enterprise-class distributed systems software

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment working with several teams to develop and maintain reliable environments and infrastructure services

• Proven track record in delivering reliable, scalable and highly performant end-to-end solutions

• Excellent communication and demonstrated ability to drive cross-team improvements

• Hands-on engineering experience developing and managing scalable cloud services across technologies such as Azure, AWS or GCP
