Job title: Senior Software Engineer - MAAS
About the Role Senior Software Engineer focused on MAAS (Metal as a Service) for Canonical. This role is based remotely in the Americas and involves building and maintaining functionality that powers on-premises and cloud-scale hardware provisioning within the Ubuntu ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain MAAS components and services in a fast-moving, open-source environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Canonical's global engineering org to deliver scalable infrastructure.
- Write tests, perform code reviews, and contribute to architecture discussions.
- Ensure reliability, performance, and security of MAAS and related tooling.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a healthy engineering culture in a remote team.
What We're Looking For
- Strong software engineering background with experience in Python and distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, server provisioning, and data-center automation.
- Familiarity with MAAS, Juju, open-source development processes (Git, CI/CD).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a remote, global team.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with MAAS or hardware lifecycle management, Kubernetes, OpenStack, or similar.
- Experience within the Ubuntu / Canonical ecosystem and open-source communities.
