Job title: Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure and Tools
About the Role Senior Software Engineer on the Infrastructure teams to build scalable systems powering the Databricks platform. You will contribute to multi-cloud systems and services for managing thousands of Kubernetes clusters at scale, storing petabytes of data, and building scalable API gateways, rate limiting, security and encryption, and developer tools including Bazel, testing frameworks, and scalable CI/CD.
What You'll Do
- Build and extend components of the core Databricks infrastructure.
- Architect multi-cloud systems and abstractions to enable the Databricks product to run on top of AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Improve software development workflows for engineering and operational efficiency. Use our data and AI platform to analyze build/test logs and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop automated build, test, and release infrastructures.
- Set and uphold standards for engineering processes, including style and code checks, test harnesses, and release packaging.
What We're Looking For
- BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience writing production code in Java, Scala, Go, C++ or Python.
- Passion for building highly scalable and reliable infrastructure.
- Experience architecting, developing and deploying large-scale distributed systems at scale.
- Experience with cloud APIs and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Bazel or similar build systems.

- Local pay range: USD 166,000 – 225,000 per year.
