Get to Know the Team

Grab's SWAT/Cloud Infrastructure teams make cloud resources safer and easier for engineering teams to use. We build internal services for provisioning, access, connectivity and service lifecycle management, replacing manual processes with reliable self-service workflows. We also apply AI-assisted approaches where they can improve infrastructure operations without compromising security or human oversight.

Get to Know the Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the services and automation behind Grab's cloud infrastructure platform. You'll lead the technical design of secure, reliable self-service workflows for cloud-resource access, connectivity and lifecycle management, while remaining hands-on with implementation and production operations. You'll work across engineering teams, guide design and code reviews, and help develop AI-assisted infrastructure tools with clear permission boundaries and verification.

This is a fully onsite role at our office in Petaling Jaya and will report to the Engineering Manager

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will lead the design and development of backend services and APIs used by engineering teams across Grab.
• You will automate resource provisioning, configuration and decommissioning with least-privilege access, auditability and safe handling of retries or duplicate requests.
• You will build reusable components for AI-assisted workflows, including context retrieval, tool integration, permission checks and evaluation.
• You will assess AI models and providers for suitability, reliability, latency, cost and safety while keeping integrations portable.
• You will define tests, observability, deployment and rollback practices for the services you own.
• You will participate in Cloud Infrastructure on-call duties, investigate incidents and drive corrective actions.
• You will lead technical discussions and code reviews, mentor engineers and improve engineering standards.

• You Will Need

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating production backend services in Go, Python or a comparable language.

• Strong API design and failure-handling skills, with the ability to make and explain technical trade-offs.

• Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure, Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools, identity and access management, and cloud networking.

• Experience with automated testing, Git, CI/CD, Docker, production deployments and rollback.

• Experience building or integrating AI-assisted engineering workflows, including context management, tools, safeguards and evaluation.

• Ability to compare AI models, verify outputs and design appropriate fallbacks for production workflows.

• Experience debugging production systems with logs, metrics and alerts, and guiding other engineers through reviews and delivery.

• Preferred: Experience building self-service infrastructure platforms used by multiple engineering teams.

• Preferred: Experience operating containerised services on Kubernetes.
