About this role
Rhythm Energy
Rhythm is a renewable energy and technology company redefining how people interact with energy. We combine energy market expertise with technology, design, and data science to deliver simple, transparent, and customer-centric energy solutions.
We're a mission-driven team focused on building scalable systems, solving complex problems, and making a meaningful impact on the future of energy.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to help build and scale the core systems powering Rhythm's customer experience, including billing systems and customer-facing applications.
Our backend spans Python/Django and Ruby, and we're looking for someone comfortable working across both ecosystems. You'll also build frontend experiences using React and TypeScript, partnering closely with Product and Design to deliver reliable, intuitive solutions.
This is a hands-on, product-oriented role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, taking ownership, and making meaningful technical decisions.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain full-stack features using Python/Django, Ruby, React, and TypeScript.
- Develop scalable backend services, APIs, asynchronous processes, and third-party integrations.
- Improve and evolve Rhythm's customer platform, including billing systems and customer-facing applications.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Partner with Product and Design to turn customer and business needs into well-executed technical solutions.
- Own features through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvements to engineering practices.
What You'll Bring
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong full-stack exposure.
- Strong backend experience with Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and Celery.
- Hands-on production experience with Ruby, including Ruby on Rails or other Ruby frameworks.
- Strong frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.
- Experience building APIs, asynchronous systems, and working with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Experience with Docker, testing, system design, and modern software development practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, technical judgment, and the ability to work independently.
- Clear communication and experience collaborating across Engineering, Product, and Design.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating or migrating services across Ruby and Python ecosystems.
- Familiarity with Next.js, AWS, SQS, SNS, or Kafka.
- Experience with billing systems, financial platforms, or complex third-party integrations.
- Startup experience, particularly in fintech or energy.
What Success Looks Like
- Reliable, scalable full-stack features that improve Rhythm's customer experience.
- Well-integrated Django and Ruby services with fewer production issues.
- Improved platform performance, stability, and maintainability.
- Strong technical ownership and effective collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Meaningful ownership. Build and improve systems that directly impact our customers.
- Interesting technical challenges. Work across multiple backend ecosystems and modern frontend technologies.
