About this role
Job title: Senior Software Engineer, CMS Platform
About the Role
Join Paramount Streaming as a Senior Software Engineer responsible for designing and delivering scalable CMS services. You will become an expert in core CMS components, lead small-to-medium projects, and mentor other engineers while shipping high-quality code across a polyglot stack powering Paramount+, Pluto TV, and CBS.com.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement features, APIs, and services across our stack: Java/Spring Boot, Next.js/React, Python, Kafka/PubSub, and Solr search pipelines.
- Become an expert in one or more CMS platform components and codify that expertise so AI agents can ramp on it (clear conventions, agent-readable docs).
- Lead small-to-medium projects from inception to delivery, including scoping and coordination.
- Identify and address complex technical issues — debugging, performance tuning, root-cause analysis.
- Proactively improve development tooling, system efficiency, and reduce technical debt.
- Mentor less senior engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing — including effective AI-augmented workflows.
- Collaborate with partner teams to ensure seamless integrations and cohesive experiences.
- Participate in on-call rotation, incident resolution, and RCAs.
- Help grow the team through interviewing and onboarding new members.
What We're Looking For
- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent applicable experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Java (17+) / Spring Boot and TypeScript / React / Next.js.
- Experience with Python, relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL), and CI/CD pipelines.
- In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with search tools like Solr and Elasticsearch.
- Preferred: Experience with message brokers (Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub) or cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with content management domains or media/streaming platforms.
- Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps practices.
- Experience with technical writing and design documentation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $124,000.00 - $186,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. - Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
- What We Offer: Attractive compensation and comprehensive benefits packages.
