Job title: Senior Software Engineer - Backend
About the Role As a backend-focused software engineer at Databricks, you will help build infrastructure and products for the Databricks platform at scale. You will work across OS/container systems, serverless infrastructure, partner integration, and ML infrastructure to support big data, AI workloads.
What You'll Do
- Build and scale the Databricks serverless platform that powers big data, machine learning and Gen AI workloads.
- Automatically improve performance and efficiency of workloads across a multi-cloud environment while ensuring they scale to millions of machines.
- Work on core cloud platform technologies (OS, container, networking) and improve security, efficiency and reliability across the fleet.
- Build and nurture a partner ecosystem for Databricks SQL, including toolkits for deep integrations with partners and customers.
- Develop notebook dataplane for multi-language, multi-user collaboration with high reliability and responsiveness for data science and AI/ML workflows.
- Create tools, frameworks and platforms to enable Databricks engineers to build, deploy and operate services with batteries included, while improving scale, observability and safety.
What We're Looking For
- BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of production-level experience in one of: Java, Scala, Golang, C++, or a similar language.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) or Kubernetes.
- Experience with security and systems that handle sensitive data.
Compensation & Benefits
- Local Pay Range: $157,700—$213,800 USD per year.
- The total compensation package may include annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
