Job title: Senior Software Engineer - Backend
About the Role As a backend-focused software engineer at Databricks, you will help build infrastructure and products for our data and AI platform at scale. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance services that power customers' data workloads. You will tackle distributed systems challenges and help customers view and control platform usage.
What You'll Do
- Build infrastructure and products for the Databricks platform at scale
- Deliver reliable, high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing large data on cloud storage backends (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store)
- Build scalable services (e.g., Scala, Kubernetes) and data pipelines (Spark, Databricks) to power pricing infrastructure and platform usage features
- Collaborate with teams across product, infra, and developer experience to improve reliability and scalability
What We're Looking For
- BS or higher in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of production-level experience in Java, Scala, C++, or similar
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures
- Good knowledge of SQL
Nice to Have
- Experience with Spark, Databricks, or data pipeline technologies
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud backends
- Strong debugging and observability skills
