About the Role Join the D2L Labs team as a Senior Software Developer to lead the development and incubation of new products and features, integrate cutting-edge AI techniques into our development processes, and conduct ongoing AI research to advance our understanding and capabilities. You will contribute to AI thought leadership through engagement with strategic clients and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation in an agile environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead development and incubation of new products and features on the D2L Labs team, integrating AI techniques into our development processes.
- Conduct ongoing AI research to enhance understanding and capabilities; contribute to AI thought leadership with strategic clients.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and stakeholders to deliver meaningful, aligned results; align with AI ethics and responsible AI practices.
- Build real-value applications using large language models and AI agents; integrate LLMs into enterprise software platforms.
- Communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders; mentor junior developers; foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Work in an Agile environment using tools such as Git, Jira, and Slack; apply CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, distributed systems).
- Partner with product teams to ensure scalable, secure, and ethical AI integrations that align with business goals.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of software development experience, especially in developing highly scalable, cloud-based platforms or applications.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and DevOps practices.
- Experience with AI ethics and responsible AI practices.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines; strong security principles in software development for AI and cloud-based applications.
- Demonstrated experience with large language models (e.g., GPT, Claude, Llama) and applying advanced prompt engineering techniques (chain of thought, retrieval augmented generation); integrating LLMs into enterprise applications.
- Understanding of agent-based systems and multi-agent architectures.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior developers; strong collaboration with product management and design.
- Familiarity with Agile tools (Git, Jira, Slack); good knowledge of data preprocessing and ETL processes.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical discipline; advanced degrees beneficial but not mandatory.
