Senior Software Developer

About the Role Senior software developers at D2L design, build, and lead software initiatives across distributed systems, ML, UI, mobile, and cloud computing. You’ll contribute to engineering best practices, mentor teams, and help advance our mission to transform the way the world learns. This role supports a hybrid work model with in-office collaboration 3 days a week.

What You'll Do

  • Develop software using engineering best practices and contribute high-quality code.
  • Enable teams to be more productive through hands-on coding, architectural decisions, and knowledge sharing.
  • Work across a wide range of technologies including distributed systems, machine learning, user interfaces, mobile apps, and cloud computing.
  • Provide technical leadership across teams via mentoring, influence, and leading by example.
  • Solve ambiguous multi-system problems across initiatives and collaborate with product, design, and operations.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong communication skills for technical discussions and collaboration.
  • Experience with OO design and proficient coding in C++, C#, or Java.
  • Strong foundations in CS topics: data structures, algorithms, databases, distributed systems.
  • A track record of delivering technically challenging work.
  • Proficiency with Artificial Intelligence tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience; ability to provide technical leadership and mentor others.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with in-office presence as required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience across distributed systems, ML, UI, mobile, and cloud computing (optional but beneficial).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: CAD 110,000 – CAD 155,000 per year.
