Job title: Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer
Canonical is seeking a Senior Site Reliability / GitOps Engineer for a remote, worldwide role to help design, build, and operate reliable infrastructure across Canonical's platforms. This role emphasizes GitOps, incident response, and scalable operations to support enterprise workloads on Ubuntu. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain SRE practices across Canonical's platforms using GitOps approaches.
- Build and operate scalable, highly available infrastructure on cloud and on-prem environments.
- Develop IaC pipelines, manage CI/CD, and automate incident detection, response, and postmortems.
- Monitor reliability, performance, and capacity planning; create dashboards and runbooks.
- Collaborate with platform, security, and product teams to improve reliability and deployment speed.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in site reliability engineering, with hands-on Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and containerized environments.
- Proficiency with GitOps tooling (e.g., Argo CD, Flux) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), logging, tracing, and incident management.
- Scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash); strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.
- Familiarity with Ubuntu or Canonical technologies is a plus.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Juju, MAAS, OpenStack, or public cloud providers within the Canonical ecosystem.
- Familiarity with security best practices and scalability patterns.
