Job title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the Role Senior Site Reliability Engineer for Anduril Australia, responsible for architecting, delivering, and sustaining next-generation software delivery toolchains to enable rapid, secure deployment of autonomous systems. You will work across infrastructure, OS, orchestration, and application layers, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to advance unsupervised autonomy and defense technologies.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design, development, implementation and support of next-generation software delivery toolchains that enable continuous and secure delivery of capabilities orders of magnitude faster than the competition, including in times of national crisis and across multiple national security classification domains
• Manage modern ICT systems at the infrastructure level (AWS, Azure, VMware ESXi)
• Manage modern ICT systems at the operating system level (NixOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, Windows)
• Manage modern ICT systems at the orchestration level (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform)
• Manage modern ICT systems at the application level (GitHub Enterprise, CircleCI, proprietary apps)
• Contribute to Nix managed build and deployment systems
• Contribute to the management of ICT hardware systems in a limited capacity
• Advocate for and implement best-practice security measures within Anduril’s software toolchain
• Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary software team, including mentoring engineers from diverse backgrounds

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience
• Experience in a senior role delivering software and/or hardware systems with mature software delivery, security and operations capability
• Experience with the design, implementation and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies
• Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
• Capacity to work holistically on software-enabled capabilities up and down the software stack and lifecycle through design, implementation, operation and sustainment
• Capacity to act as the technical owner for a software service, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, team coordination, design, implementation, sustainment and evolution
• Capacity to learn and grow individually, while mentoring junior team members effectively, building team cohesion and capacity
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance
• Preferred: Experience writing cloud-native services using C++, Rust, Python and/or Go
• Preferred: Experience with the NixOS operating system and the Nix programming language
• Preferred: Systems and/or application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency and optimization
• Preferred: Experience managing infrastructure with Terraform
• Preferred: Strong understanding of networking, particularly in cloud and hybrid environments
• Preferred: Knowledge deploying applications with Kubernetes and maintaining Kubernetes clusters
• Desired: Desire to grow into roles such as Principal Software Engineer and/or Engineering Manager
• Desire to grow into a Tech-Lead-Manager role with line management responsibility, in addition to delivery

Nice to Have

• Leadership and mentoring experience in building cohesive software teams
• Interest in progressing to Principal Software Engineer or Engineering Manager
• Willingness to take on line management responsibilities as a tech lead
