About the Role
Koch IP Holdings, LLC is seeking a Senior Si Photonics Design Engineer to join our Optical Solutions Business Unit (OSBU). You will be part of a world-class engineering team contributing to the development of next-generation Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). The role involves designing, implementing, and validating photonic components and circuits, providing design support for existing and advanced photonic technology, and collaborating with global teams and supplier partners to advance photonic solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design SiPho components and devices using commercial tools like Lumerical, COMSOL, FIMMPROP, etc., for advanced applications such as PAM4, coherent pluggables, and co-packaged optics.
- Design experiments and contribute to EVT/DVT testing and analysis of test data.
- Collaborate with other teams and external foundries to develop innovative solutions for novel photonic platforms.
- Work with the global layout team to assist with seamless development of GDS layouts.
- Collaborate with SI/PI and packaging teams to enable reliable integration of PICs into final products.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related technical fields.
- At least 2 years of relevant industrial or academic experience in designing photonic/electrical devices and components.
- Experience with photonic and optoelectronic devices.
- Experience with CMOS semiconductor and backend processes.
- Experience with design tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, FIMMPROP, etc.
- Ability to collaborate with global, cross-functional teams and supplier partners.
Nice to Have
- PhD degree, typically in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
- At least 4+ years of industry experience in PIC design and validation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 150,000 - 225,000 per year, with eligibility for variable pay (monetary bonus or other form).
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal background check.
