Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day management and operational oversight of the Company's fleet of vessels, with primary focus on Oil Barging Vessels engaged in the transportation of petroleum products.

Ensure all vessels under management operate safely, efficiently and in full compliance with international maritime conventions, flag-state regulations, class requirements and company HSE policies.

Develop and execute shipping and fleet operational strategies that drive vessel utilisation, cost efficiency, customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

Design and implement operational plans, voyage schedules, maintenance programmes and crew manning strategies for the oil barging fleet.

Lead and develop the operations and vessel management team to deliver exceptional performance, high safety standards and profitable growth.

Set comprehensive operational, safety, commercial and financial goals for the fleet and monitor performance against KPIs.

Evaluate vessel and team performance by analysing and interpreting operational data, voyage reports, bunker consumption, off-hire statistics and other key metrics.

Participate in expansion activities including fleet acquisition, newbuilding projects, charter-in/out decisions and strategic alliances.

Represent the Company in negotiations with charterers, oil majors, terminals, agents, classification societies, insurers, regulators and other key contacts to secure the most effective commercial and operational terms.

Manage relationships with technical managers, crewing agents, bunker suppliers, shipyards, surveyors and other service providers.

Identify and explore new commercial opportunities, trade routes and optimised deployment strategies for the oil barging fleet.

Ensure robust emergency response, incident investigation and continuous improvement processes are in place and effectively executed.

Qualification / Experience Requirements

Education & Professional Certification: Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Shipping Management, Logistics, Business Administration or any other relevant field. Relevant post-graduate qualifications or professional maritime certifications, e.g. Master Mariner or equivalent.

Years of Experience: Minimum of 15 years significant hands-on experience in shipping, vessel operations and/or commercial maritime management, with at least 8 years spent in a senior management role overseeing fleets or vessel operations.

Technical Expertise: Proven experience in the day-to-day management of vessels, with particular expertise in Oil Barging Vessels (tank barges, product tankers or similar petroleum logistics assets).

Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, flag-state and port-state control requirements, and oil & gas HSE standards.

Leadership & People Management: People management experience, including proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams (crew, technical, commercial and shore-based staff) and develop talent.

Core Skills: Strong analytical, leadership, negotiation and communication skills.

Work Environment: Ability to handle the pressure of working in a dynamic, high-risk and result-oriented environment typical of oil logistics operations.

Stakeholder Management: Experience in establishing and building strong collaborative partnerships with charterers, terminals, agents, classification societies, regulators and other key stakeholders.

Performance: Proven track record of achieving operational targets, cost control, vessel utilisation and delivering profitable growth.
