About the Role The Canonical Security Operations team is hiring for a Senior or Staff engineer to lead and contribute to a world-class Security Operations Center. The successful candidate will provide leadership, mentorship, expertise, and drive to design, build, and operate SOC capabilities across global teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead, design, and operate security operations initiatives to protect Canonical's infrastructure and products.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, set technical direction, and help grow the SOC team.
- Respond to incidents, perform threat detection, incident triage, and post-incident reviews.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to implement robust security controls and monitoring.
- Develop and improve security monitoring, detection capabilities, and runbooks.
What We're Looking For
- Experience as a Senior or Staff Engineer in security operations or a similar role.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Hands-on experience with security operations tooling, incident response, and threat detection.
- Ability to design and implement scalable SOC processes and architectures.
- Excellent communication and ability to work in a distributed, remote-friendly environment.
