About the Role The Department of Basic Education invites unemployed youth to apply for Government entry level jobs, including the Senior Secretary position in Pretoria. This role provides secretarial and administrative support to the Chief Directorate/Directorate, serving as a direct point of contact and ensuring the efficient operation and professional image of the office. What You'll Do
- Provide secretarial and general administrative support to the Chief Directorate/Directorate
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders; serve as the primary contact for visitors
- Manage the general organisation, tidiness and image of the Office of the Chief Directorate/Directorate
- Screen and manage incoming and outgoing telephone calls, take messages and route calls to the appropriate units
- Manage and coordinate the diary of the manager
- Facilitate logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops and appointments
- Arrange travel itineraries, coordinate transport and accommodation, and reconcile subsistence and travel claims What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Understanding of the operation of the Public Sector; good interpersonal and communication skills; good telephone etiquette
- Computer literacy: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook
- Ability to think clearly and concisely, be friendly and confident; able to work independently and under pressure; able to multi-task with a high workload
- General office management; willingness to learn quickly; accuracy and adaptability; strong planning and organisational skills Compensation & Benefits
