About the Role A Senior SCADA Engineer responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and optimization of SCADA systems within a manufacturing facility. This role provides technical leadership, ensures scalable and secure system architecture, and partners cross-functionally to deliver high-performance manufacturing solutions that support quality, cost, and delivery goals. What You'll Do
- Lead development, implementation, and ongoing management of the SCADA system across the facility
- Design and maintain standardized, user-friendly HMI screens for manufacturing processes (mixing, coating, calendaring, slitting, assembly, formation, and end-of-line)
- Develop SCADA/HMI applications using Ignition SCADA (Vision & Perspective modules)
- Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, field devices, and protocols (Omron, Mitsubishi, Keyence, OPCUA)
- Create reusable templates, UDTs, and best practices to enable scalability across lines and plants
- Collaborate with Controls, MES, IT, and Process Engineering teams
- Design and optimize SCADA data architectures, historians, and transactional data flows using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Ignition databases
- Integrate SCADA with third-party and enterprise systems (vision, quality, lab/QC, Palantir Foundry, event streaming, REST/MQTT, UNS)
- Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship for junior engineers and contractors
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis related to SCADA systems
- Support change management activities including testing, validation, and deployment
- Develop and maintain technical documentation (architecture diagrams, SOPs, HMI standards)
- Ensure compliance with IT/OT cybersecurity and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to SCADA, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 roadmaps What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of SCADA/HMI engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong expertise with Ignition SCADA and PLC integration
- Proficiency in Python scripting
- Advanced knowledge of industrial standards and protocols (ISA, Modbus, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, MQTT, OPC UA)
- Strong database experience (SQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience designing high-availability systems
- Background in high-volume manufacturing
- Solid understanding of electrical hardware, schematics, and sequence control
- Strong cross-functional and global collaboration skills
- First-principles, analytical approach to problem solving
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Working-level fluency in English (read, write, speak) Nice to Have
- Experience with vision systems (Keyence, Cognex)
- PLC programming and troubleshooting (Mitsubishi or Omron)
- Knowledge of ISA-88 / PackML
- Familiarity with U.S. environmental regulations and UL standards Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $130K - $150K per year
