About the Role Wise is looking for a Senior Risk Manager to lead the implementation and ongoing operation of Wise's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework tailored to the EU region. You will ensure that new branches, products and Wise Platform partnerships align to governance and standards, and set onboarding and monitoring standards resilient to emerging risks and regulatory expectations. What You'll Do
- Implement the EU-tailored ERM framework and ensure expansions and platform partners align to its principles.
- Apply the Europe Risk Appetite, conduct risk assessments, monitor KRIs, and produce risk reporting.
- Advise product and business teams on risk issues and safe feature development.
- Review/update Risk Management (2LOD) policies for new branches; draft policies where gaps; drive committee approval and implementation.
- Support regulatory business planning with 2LOD input aligned to the ERM framework.
- Develop understanding of products, regional controls, and outsourcing oversight; support first line with control assurance metrics.
- Present monitoring outcomes to Wise EU and group committees (executive mgmt, regulators, Board) and escalate incidents as required.
- Provide regular updates on incidents, issues, KRIs, product risks, and risk changes to management and group where necessary. What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in risk management for EU and/or UK financial services institutions.
- Strong knowledge of European and/or Belgian risk management frameworks and/or industry best practice.
- Subject matter expertise in EU regulation such as DORA, outsourcing and third-party risk management, safeguarding and data privacy.
- Experience implementing enterprise risk management programs for financial services institutions.
- Experience aligning to key risks across risk taxonomy (operational, financial, strategic and intersecting risks).
- Strong understanding of systems, management information, and reporting systems.
- Demonstrated track record of second line of defence independence and challenge/escalation.
- Ability to work independently and flexibly in a fast-moving environment.
