About the Role Senior Relationship/Trust Advisor, WM is responsible for managing complex wealth management relationships with high net worth (HNW) and ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients and delivering fiduciary and administrative services. The role partners with the service team and appropriate Northern Trust resources to ensure timely, high-quality service and coordination with clients’ professional advisors to identify and implement advisory solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead client conversations for life driven wealth management and provide proactive advice on NT’s products/services, emerging issues, regulatory/tax changes, and appropriate actions for the client.
- Explain complicated concepts to clients in non-technical terms and offer advisory solutions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of client needs and goals by collaborating with the service team and clients’ professional advisors to identify and implement tailored solutions.
- Maintain knowledge of NT fiduciary standards and apply fiduciary knowledge and judgment to fiduciary relationships; identify and resolve fiduciary risk issues.
- Cultivate relationships with referral sources and external professional advisors to grow the business; participate in community and professional organizations representing NT.
- Travel to meet with clients as appropriate to pursue revenue, new business opportunities, or servicing requirements.
- Teach and mentor less experienced partners; provide leadership on fiduciary projects and committees; work with internal and external partners to identify client needs and develop advisory solutions.
- Implement complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.
What We're Looking For
- 12 - 15 years’ experience as a relationship manager in trust administration, estate administration, estate planning, or related fields.
- Experience with high net worth (HNW) and ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients preferred.
- Ability to manage a complex portfolio of over a million and/or billion in account under management (AUM).
- Knowledge of fiduciary standards, principles, and applicable laws and regulations; knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operations.
- Skills in negotiating, problem solving, delegating, leadership, and sales; technical knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operations.
- A JD and/or CFP, CPWA and other related professional designations strongly desired.
- Leadership and organizational skills to determine the Business Unit's goals, allocate resources, and assess staff development.
