Job title: Senior R&D Project Manager
About the Role As the Senior R&D Project Manager, you will drive the development and delivery of innovative medical and nonmedical hearing devices and software for the Asia market, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and quality standards. You will be based in Singapore and report to the VP, R&D Solution and Process. This role leads the functional competency of project teams to achieve agreed deliverables.
What You'll Do
- Take full ownership of project scope, budget, resources, and timeframe as approved by Gatekeepers. Use portfolio management tools to plan and control content, resources, and costs in collaboration with the project team.
- Break down larger initiatives into sub-projects and ensure agreed planning is executed with competency owners. Facilitate and drive key decisions to complete each Project Stage.
- Act as the primary representative for all R&D-related aspects within the project core team. Regularly report status to steering boards and the core team. Foster a culture of excellence within the core team and related competency project teams. Collaborate cross-departmentally and review technical and functional topics.
- Proactively identify, rate, and manage risks, constraints, and dependencies; escalate issues when necessary. Create, maintain, and deliver up-to-date project documentation per Sonova SOPs. Contribute to gate preparations and support IP creation while ensuring freedom to operate.
- Design comprehensive reliability plans to ensure product quality. Support assessment of new technology functions in the market.
What We're Looking For
- Strategic thinker with a passion for driving innovation in a complex, global environment; comfortable navigating uncertainties with a proactive mindset.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering and a Project Management certification. 5+ years in engineering/product development (medical device industry preferred), including at least 3 years managing complex projects.
- Leadership & Strategy: proven track record leading cross-functional teams and making decisive, strategic choices; ability to abstract and structure complex problems.
- Communication & Collaboration: strong communicator; ability to adapt style to different target groups; capable of open negotiation; effective in a global setup.
- Personal Growth: strong self-awareness and commitment to personal/professional development.
- Skills: Proficient in English (oral and written) and MS Office 365.
