Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding and track record of developing quantitative models with application to financial/credit risk, including model design, calibration, performance assessment and implementation. Deep knowledge with Machine Learning techniques required.
  • Excellent writing skills in English, with a demonstrable body of written content (articles, white papers, blogs, etc.). Strong ability to tell a data-driven story.
  • Superior verbal communication skills, can independently develop and confidently deliver presentations to audiences of varying technical understanding and seniority.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across internal business lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate, enhance efficiency and quality of quantitative projects; curiosity and openness to adopting new tools and methods, and awareness of applications of AI in the financial services sector.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages and/or analytical applications (Python, R, etc.).
  • Experience in a relevant subject matter area, including credit risk, private credit, structured finance, and credit rating methodologies, is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, with the capability to set clear objectives, provide regular feedback and coaching, support employee development.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant work experience in asset management, banking, or a related discipline will be prioritized.

Responsibilities

  • The role will lead the enhancement and maintenance of existing quantitative modeling solutions and contribute to the development of new solutions for the asset management sector.

  • Lead the enhancement and maintenance of existing quantitative modeling solutions. Collaborate with research teams in other business units to develop new solutions, write/co-author research, and advance company strategic priorities.

  • Contribute to the development of new models and solutions for the asset management sector by leveraging Moody’s proprietary data.

  • Partner with the Asset Management Sales and Customer Success teams by providing subject matter expertise, accompanying them to client/prospect meetings, delivering proof-of-concept projects, developing collateral, and acting as an internal knowledge resource. Domestic US travel may be necessary part of the role.

  • Publish written content (articles, blogs, white papers) on relevant and timely themes in the market that demonstrate the insights that Moody’s Analytics’ solutions and data can provide.

  • The role reports to the Managing Director, Research and Innovation, in the Asset Management unit in New York, but will dotted-line to the Head of Strategy for the Asset Management unit, as well as work closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Communications teams.

  • Must be able to work in person at Moody’s 7 World Trade Center offices on a schedule to be determined (at least once a week).

  • About the Team

  • The Research and Innovation team in the Asset Management business unit at Moody’s Analytics develops new products, contributes to expansion of existing solutions, helps guide the unit’s strategy, publishes thought leadership content, and supports the Sales and Customer Success teams. The team collaborates across the Banking and Insurance business units, as well as with Moody’s Ratings.

  • For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $191,500.00 - $277,600.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
