Senior QA Automation Engineer

About the Role Senior QA Automation Engineer in Motorola Solutions' camera systems group, responsible for technically leading, designing, developing, and optimizing automated test solutions for embedded camera systems and user interfaces. Evaluate Computer Vision and AI algorithms and own the full lifecycle of test automation development from concept to deployment, including API testing and CI/CD integration. What You'll Do

• Collaborate with a small team of Quality assurance engineers and Quality technicians.
• Lead design and implementation of a quality evaluation pipeline, workflows, and reporting service for automatically testing IoT devices before release.
• Contribute to a comprehensive QA strategy to ensure reliability and performance of edge-based video surveillance cameras and cloud services.
• Execute QA testing strategies for OTA firmware releases for cameras and appliances.
• Develop and maintain an exhaustive test approach including pass/fail metrics, real and synthetic video datasets, and automation within a comprehensive test suite for each feature.
• Collaborate with product management, embedded software developers, algorithm developers, data scientists, and UI engineers to define system requirements and use-cases for new analytics features.
• Coordinate with software development teams to define release scope, objectives, and timelines.
• Develop and maintain quality metrics, reports, and documentation.
• Analyze test results, identify trends, and propose process improvements.
• Stay current with QA and AI-based video surveillance industry practices.
• Support cross-team escalation to ensure timely resolution of critical quality issues and stakeholder communication.
• Identify and close testing gaps in current processes and automation.
• Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for manual and automated testing.
• Conduct off-site outdoor field testing of analytics features on camera hardware. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, or related field.
• 1 to 7+ years in quality assurance automation engineering; experience leading a small team.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and manage QA strategies and automation frameworks for complex software and hardware systems.
• Expertise in Python, C++, and JavaScript automation to test software components, embedded hardware, IoT, and/or robotics.
• Strong background in cloud-connected applications with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud; experience integrating automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and foster a culture of quality and innovation. Nice to Have
• Experience with OTA firmware release testing, field testing on camera hardware, and AI-enabled video analytics.
• Familiarity with camera systems, computer vision workflows, and IoT edge devices.
