Senior Python developer with Flowable in Zurich

You will join a globally distributed team in the Wealth Management area of a leading global bank, working in the AI Factory stream. The stream turns AI use cases into production-grade solutions that automate and improve business processes across the organisation. The team combines workflow orchestration on the Flowable platform with Python-based AI and data services. This lets processes such as client servicing, document handling, approvals and operational workflows be partly or fully automated, with human-in-the-loop control where needed. Everything runs in a highly regulated environment, so reliability, auditability, security and compliance are key. We are looking for a senior Python & Flowable Engineer who wants to bring AI capabilities into real business processes and help shape the technical direction of the stream.

Responsibilities

• Design and build process automation solutions that combine Flowable workflows with Python-based AI and data services
• Model processes, cases and decisions using BPMN 2.0, CMMN and DMN, including human-in-the-loop review steps
• Develop Python services and APIs (e.g. FastAPI/Flask) that Flowable processes call, including integration with AI/ML and LLM services
• Integrate workflows with internal and external systems through REST APIs and messaging
• Turn business use cases into technical designs together with business analysts, data scientists and stakeholders
• Make sure AI-enabled processes are traceable, auditable and compliant with the bank's security and risk requirements
• Write unit and integration tests, take part in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
• Support deployment and operation of solutions across environments (DEV/UAT/PROD) using CI/CD
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause resolution
• Act as a technical expert in the team, guide less experienced engineers and contribute to solution architecture decisions

Skills

• Must have

• 10+ years of software development experience, with strong recent hands-on Python experience

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Flowable (or Activiti / Camunda)

• Strong knowledge of BPMN 2.0; practical experience with CMMN and DMN

• Proven experience designing and building REST APIs and service integrations (FastAPI, Flask or similar)

• Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM-based services into business applications

• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases

• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar) and Docker

• Working knowledge of Java / Spring Boot, enough to extend and integrate with the Flowable platform

• Track record of working in a globally distributed Agile team in a senior or lead capacity

• Good spoken and written English

• Nice to have

• Experience with LLM frameworks and patterns (e.g. LangChain, RAG, prompt engineering)

• Experience with Flowable Work / Flowable Design, including Flowable AI features

• Containerisation and deployment on Kubernetes

• Cloud experience, ideally Microsoft Azure (including Azure OpenAI)

• Messaging and event-driven integration (Kafka, JMS/MQ)

• Experience in banking or wealth management, ideally with process automation or AI use cases
