Senior Property Accountant

We are looking for a Senior Property Accountant to support a portfolio of commercial properties. This is a Long-term Contract opportunity for an accounting specialist who can manage financial reporting across multiple assets while maintaining accuracy and consistency. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial real estate accounting experience, works well across teams, and is comfortable handling deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This is a fully remote job opening but candidates must be comfortable working east coast hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and related reports for a portfolio of 12 to 14 commercial properties, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

• Partner with the Accounting Manager during audit activities by organizing schedules, reconciling accounts, and providing required documentation.

• Manage month-end close tasks, including general ledger review, accrual entries, and account reconciliations for assigned properties.

• Coordinate the onboarding of newly assigned properties into established accounting processes and reporting workflows.

• Monitor day-to-day property accounting operations to maintain reliable financial data and support efficient processing.

• Review reporting deliverables and check runs to confirm deadlines are met and transactions are recorded correctly.

• Collaborate with property management and third-party stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and support ongoing financial operations.

• At least 3 years of progressive property accounting experience within the commercial real estate sector.

• Proven background preparing financial statements for multiple commercial properties at the same time.

• Hands-on experience with month-end close, accrual accounting, general ledger activity, and financial statement preparation.

• Commercial property management accounting experience is required.

• Familiarity with Yardi is strongly preferred, though other relevant property accounting systems may be considered.
