We are looking for:
Project Engineer – Capital Projects, Multidisciplinary Leadership & Equipment Engineering.
- The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, engineering, project management, and execution of capital projects with values up to $5 million.
- The position provides end-to-end project leadership from concept development and FEL through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- The Project Engineer serves as the project leader and is responsible for leading multidisciplinary project teams consisting of process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, civil/structural, operations, maintenance, EHS, procurement, finance, contractors, and external engineering resources.
- In addition to project management responsibilities, the Project Engineer may serve as the Lead Equipment Engineer on larger capital projects, providing technical leadership and engineering oversight for major process and mechanical equipment.
- This includes developing equipment requirements, evaluating technical solutions, coordinating vendor engineering, reviewing equipment specifications and designs, and supporting equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and startup.
- The Project Engineer is accountable for delivering assigned projects safely, on schedule, within approved budget, and in accordance with company standards and project objectives.

Project Management & Leadership
- Serve as the Project Manager for capital projects up to $5 million.
- Provide overall leadership and accountability for project scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and execution.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of project development and execution.
- Establish project objectives, responsibilities, milestones, deliverables, and performance expectations.
- Coordinate resources across engineering disciplines and functional organizations.
- Facilitate collaboration between engineering, operations, maintenance, procurement, construction, EHS, finance, contractors, and vendors.
- Establish clear ownership and accountability for project deliverables.
- Resolve conflicts between disciplines and drive timely project decisions.
- Lead project meetings, design reviews, risk reviews, constructability reviews, and project status meetings.
- Provide regular project status updates to management, including cost, schedule, risks, issues, and required decisions.
- Manage project scope and changes through the established change-control process.
Lead Equipment Engineering
- Serve as Lead Equipment Engineer for major equipment packages and large capital projects, as assigned.
- Provide technical leadership for the selection, specification, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and startup of major equipment.
- Develop equipment specifications, datasheets, design criteria, and technical requirements.
- Evaluate equipment technologies and alternatives based on safety, reliability, performance, maintainability, lifecycle cost, and project requirements.
- Lead technical evaluations of equipment suppliers and review vendor proposals and quotations.
- Coordinate equipment engineering activities with process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, civil/structural, and other disciplines.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, equipment layouts, and other technical documentation.
- Manage vendor engineering interfaces and ensure equipment deliverables meet project requirements and schedule.
- Identify and resolve equipment design, integration, constructability, and operational issues.
- Participate in equipment design reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, factory acceptance testing, inspections, and vendor meetings.
- Provide technical support during equipment fabrication, installation, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure equipment designs address reliability, maintainability, operability, safety, and long-term performance requirements.
- Develop and maintain equipment-related technical documentation and lessons learned.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for major equipment suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Capital Project Development
- Develop capital project concepts, scopes, business cases, and preliminary estimates.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams through FEL and applicable stage-gate processes.
- Coordinate feasibility studies, alternatives analysis, constructability reviews, and project risk assessments.
- Establish project budgets, schedules, resource requirements, and execution strategies.
- Ensure project scope is sufficiently defined before proceeding to detailed engineering and execution.
Multidisciplinary Engineering Management
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines to ensure an integrated project design.
- Establish engineering deliverables, design criteria, schedules, and discipline interfaces.
- Coordinate process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, civil/structural, and other technical disciplines.
- Identify and resolve discipline interfaces and design conflicts.
- Lead multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, specifications, safety requirements, and company practices.
- Balance technical requirements with cost, schedule, constructability, reliability, maintainability, and operational requirements.
Procurement & Contractor Management
- Develop procurement strategies and technical specifications for equipment, materials, and services.
- Coordinate technical bid evaluations and vendor selections.
- Manage vendor engineering and equipment documentation.
- Coordinate engineering and construction contractors.
- Establish contractor expectations for scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and deliverables.
- Monitor contractor and vendor performance and resolve issues affecting project execution.
- Manage contractor and vendor changes, RFIs, technical queries, and commercial issues.
Project Controls & Financial Management
- Establish and maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Manage project costs, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and contingency.
- Maintain an accurate estimate-at-completion throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project performance against approved scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
- Identify cost and schedule trends and develop corrective actions.
- Provide accurate and timely project reporting to management.
Construction, Commissioning & Startup
- Lead the multidisciplinary project team during construction and field execution.
- Coordinate construction activities with operations and maintenance.
- Provide technical oversight for installation of major equipment and systems.
- Ensure equipment is installed in accordance with approved engineering documents and manufacturer requirements.
