About this role
Job title: Senior Principal Analog Design Engineer
About the Role
The Senior Principal Analog Design Engineer will drive design and development of analog ICs for Allegro's next-generation motor driver and power management products. This role requires deep expertise in analog IC design, plus strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead technical initiatives from concept through silicon validation. You will deliver high-performance, robust, and cost-effective solutions for automotive and industrial motor drive applications.
What You'll Do
-
Lead the architectural definition, design, simulation, and layout supervision of motor driver/power management ICs and sub-blocks, such as HS/LS gate drivers, amplifiers, charge pumps, bandgap references, regulators, ADCs, DACs, serial interfaces, and diagnostics
-
Drive the definition of analog circuit blocks based on system-level requirements and specifications, collaborating with system architects, digital designers, and test engineers
-
Perform detailed transistor-level circuit design, including schematic capture, simulation (e.g., Spectre, HSPICE), and verification using advanced EDA tools
-
Oversee and guide layout engineers to ensure optimal performance, matching, and robustness
-
Conduct comprehensive pre-silicon verification, including corner simulations, Monte Carlo analysis, noise analysis, and reliability checks
-
Develop and implement innovative analog circuit solutions to meet challenging performance, power, and area targets
-
Participate in silicon bring-up, characterization, and debugging, working closely with test and product engineering teams to ensure successful product launch
-
Mentor junior and staff engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning
-
Contribute to intellectual property generation through invention disclosures and patent applications
-
Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and design methodologies to continuously improve design practices
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, systems, digital design, verification, validation, test, program management and manufacturing
-
What We're Looking For
-
Deep expertise in analog integrated circuit design for automotive/industrial motor drive and power management
-
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead technical initiatives across the full lifecycle from concept to silicon validation
-
Proficiency in transistor-level circuit design, schematic capture, and simulation using SPICE-based tools (Spectre, HSPICE) and advanced EDA environments
-
Experience with pre-silicon verification: corner simulations, Monte Carlo, noise analysis, and reliability checks
-
Experience mentoring and guiding junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams
-
Understanding of motor driver blocks such as HS/LS gate drivers, bandgap references, regulators, ADCs/DACs, and serial interfaces
-
Intellectual property generation experience a plus
-
Nice to Have
-
Experience with automotive/industrial motor drive and power management applications; familiarity with HS/LS gate drivers, bandgap references, charge pumps, regulators, and diagnostics is desirable
