About this role

Microsoft’s Global Marketing Engines and Experiences (E&E) team delivers integrated marketing experiences by building, running, and innovating a globally scaled engine that creates connected journeys for customers and fans. The Media Data Science and Analytics group within E&E enables data-driven decision making by delivering data products and insights to measure marketing performance and impact, understand the customer experience, and support continuous learning for marketers. We are committed to an inclusive work environment and aligning with Microsoft values.

A Senior Paid Media Data Analyst on the Media Data Science and Analytics team helps establish and promote measurement frameworks that improve investment decision making. You will develop reusable, self-service data solutions that drive clear interpretation and support media optimization. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces ambiguity, and collaborates across teams and functions. You will provide actionable recommendations to paid media stakeholders based on rigorous analysis, using analytical techniques to build scalable and impactful data products while exploring the data in depth. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and comfort engaging with executives and stakeholders are essential.

What you’ll focus on includes campaign performance measurement, creative and audience testing, signal quality, perception measurement, survey design attribution and incrementality interpretation, funnel diagnostics, dashboard development, and translating learning agenda questions into repeatable analytical approaches.

Responsibilities include:

  • Improvement and Efficiency: Seek and promote methods to enhance analytics and reporting, ensure solutions are reusable and self-service, drive meaningful data interpretation for paid media decisions, socialize optimal methods for sharing and scaling insights, transition ad-hoc analyses to regular reporting, share domain knowledge for clarity, and evaluate automated methods for data collection, reporting, and analysis.
  • Model Evaluation: Link analytical models and experiment designs to business objectives, assess alignment with outcomes, define and promote appropriate evaluation methods, and present results to stakeholders.
  • Orchestration and Collaboration: Build and leverage cross-team relationships to ensure alignment and quality, drive adoption of data sources and practices, engage stakeholders to identify data opportunities, and consult across teams on data sourcing and interpretation.
  • Reporting and Sharing Results: Share insights through dashboards, reports, and visualizations; synthesize findings; identify ways to improve reporting efficiency; guide partnerships to keep results accessible and relevant.
  • Dashboard Builds: Develop and own Power BI dashboards to understand end-to-end campaign performance.
  • Embody Our Culture and Values.

Requirements include:

  • A Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field with 2+ years of experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis; or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience; or equivalent experience. Alternative pathways with related degrees or experience may apply.
  • Additional or preferred qualifications: a Master’s Degree with 6+ years or a Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis; experience with perception measurement and survey design; proven experience independently owning complex paid media analytics and measurement initiatives; demonstrated ability to advance paid media measurement frameworks across campaign performance, audience and creative testing, attribution, incrementality, funnel diagnostics, perception measurement, and media optimization; ability to translate complex paid media data into strategic recommendations; track record of leading complex, ambiguous paid media analytics workstreams with limited direction and driving alignment across marketing, media, data science, research, agency, and business stakeholders; experience presenting findings to senior leaders and influencing decisions through data.
