Job title: Senior OT Network & Systems Engineer
About the Role Senior OT Network & Systems Engineer to establish cyber-secure connectivity for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and their digital twin. You’ll shape OT network architecture, define security controls, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate with EMS and cloud platforms.
What You'll Do
- Lead the OT network architecture for BESS units globally, including segmentation, VLANs, DMZs, and redundancy.
- Own OT network diagrams and documentation; ensure smooth integration with cloud platforms and external SCADA/EMS.
- Define modern firewall rulesets based on IEC 62443 and zero-trust; manage lifecycle of OT firewalls (firmware, patching, redundancy) and deploy configurations via FortiManager.
- Troubleshoot production environments; perform root-cause analysis; contribute to cybersecurity assessments and audits.
- Collaborate with assembly plants to ensure correct firewall configuration from build; work with Digital/IT to define secure IT-OT demarcation.
- Mentor junior engineers and project teams.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years in OT networking, industrial networking, or cybersecurity engineering.
- Strong experience with L2/L3 switching, routing, and industrial network design.
- Hands-on with firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Modbus/TCP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5, DNP3, MQTT, OPC-UA.
- Experience with network automation or configuration-as-code; familiarity with NERC CIP, IEC 62443, ISO 27001.
- Agile/DevOps experience; ability to work in heterogeneous teams; fluent in English.
Nice to Have
- Experience with BESS, renewables, power systems, or plant-level OT environments.
- Knowledge of PLCs, RTUs, BMS, and SCADA architectures.
- Certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, GCIA, PCNSE, NSE, CCNP/CCIE.
- Experience developing IoT edge (ARM-based) applications.
- Degree in electrical/industrial engineering, computer science, informatics, or equivalent.
