About this role
Senior Optical Engineer responsible for leading optical systems development within OPmobility's lighting and exterior solutions, from concept to serial production. You will supervise a team of optical engineers, collaborate with other departments and customers, and ensure robust, high-quality solutions that meet safety and performance requirements.
Propose and supervise optical systems development based on customer requirements, feasibility and profitability, and participate in the creation of DGL. Development follows VPDS process. Revise optical parameters with a wider group of optical engineers and coordinate with other departments to find optimal compromises, applying know-how from other projects. Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and suppliers. Proactively negotiate and propose solutions for customers and OPmobility requirements. Ensure timely handover of task results in relation to project milestones (prototype samples, data release to hard tooling) and interdepartment requirements. Train newcomers and maintain training materials. Review optical systems at major project milestones with latest know-how, feasibility and robustness. Lead the optical engineering team in optical development leadership, delegating tasks, setting priorities. Prepare and coordinate builds for customer presentations, prepare verification samples and presentations at customer. Analyze first-shot quality and support manufacturing process tuning; implement improvements and corrections as needed. Support project launches. Prepare and present 'Lessons Learned'. Complete required training courses to obtain the necessary knowledge. Fulfil other supervisor tasks unless conflicting with the optical engineer position. Bachelor or Master degree in Optics or Physics. English – advanced level. 3-5 years of experience. Proficiency with CATIA, Light Tools, rendering software, GOM Inspect, MS Office. Complete realization of at least 2 projects from design phase to serial production. At least 2 leadership experiences in optical concept development. Strong cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving skills. Customer-centric mindset and ability to drive results.
Leadership experience in optical concept development beyond two instances. Experience in automotive lighting or exterior systems.
