About this role

About Bolt

Bolt is shaping a future where cities are built for people, not cars. What started as an ambitious project of a 19-year-old in 2013 has grown into a global mobility platform used by more than 200 million customers and 4.5 million driver and courier partners across 50 countries.

From ride-hailing and food delivery to scooters, e-bikes, and car-sharing, Bolt helps people move through cities every day. Small, autonomous teams drive this work, combining the speed and ownership of a startup with the scale of a global technology company backed by more than €1bn in funding.

And we're just getting started.

Why join Bolt?

  • Build the future of mobility and help transform how people live and move in cities.
  • Solve complex operational challenges that directly improve the experience and earnings of thousands of drivers.
  • Take real ownership early. Small, lean teams mean your decisions matter from day one, and you'll learn fast alongside some of the best people in the industry.
  • Join one of Europe's leading technology companies, backed by world-class investors including Sequoia.

About the role

As a Driver Engagement Senior Operations Specialist, you will own the health of the driver marketplace across South Africa. You'll combine data analysis, operational execution, and cross-functional collaboration to identify opportunities that improve driver engagement, marketplace efficiency, and overall supply performance.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you'll take operational challenges from analysis through implementation, working closely with Product, Operations, Analytics, and local market teams to launch solutions that deliver measurable business impact.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Marketplace Analysis: Conduct regular city deep-dives to understand marketplace performance, driver earnings, supply, demand, and operational trends. Monitor marketplace health metrics, identify anomalies early, and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Driver Engagement & Optimisation: Own driver trip conversion optimisation by identifying friction points throughout the driver journey and implementing initiatives that improve acceptance rates, trip completion, online hours, and overall partner engagement.
  • Feature Rollout & Testing: Plan, coordinate, and execute the rollout of new operational initiatives and product features. Test and validate new features, monitor adoption, communicate launches to drivers and stakeholders, and measure business impact.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Central Operations, Analytics, and local market teams to align priorities, remove blockers, and successfully deliver multiple operational projects from planning through execution.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Translate operational data into actionable recommendations, drive process optimisation and automation, and leverage AI tools to improve workflows, accelerate analysis, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Project Ownership: Manage operational initiatives end-to-end, ensuring clear ownership, stakeholder alignment, timely delivery, and measurable improvements across key marketplace health metrics.

About you

  • You have 2+ years of experience in Operations, Analytics, Consulting, Strategy, or another data-driven role, ideally within a marketplace, mobility, technology, or high-growth environment.
  • You have strong analytical skills and are comfortable interpreting data to identify opportunities and drive operational improvements.
  • You are highly proficient in Excel or Google Sheets, with SQL considered a strong advantage.
  • You have excellent project management skills and can independently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can translate complex data into clear recommendations for operational teams and senior stakeholders.
  • You are a structured problem solver with a strong sense of ownership and experience using AI tools to automate operational workflows, improve analysis, and increase productivity.
  • Experience with A/B testing, feature experimentation, or partner-facing operations within mobility or marketplace businesses is a plus.

Why you'll love it here

  • Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.
  • Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.
  • Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
  • Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
  • Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
  • Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days. Some perks may differ depending on your location and role. At Bolt, using AI daily is a baseline expectation for everyone. If there's a faster, smarter way to do your work, we expect you to find it. You're still responsible for the output, so the standard stays high when using AI tools. Experience is great, but what we really look for is drive, intelligence, and integrity. So even if you don't tick every box, please consider applying! Everyone is welcome
