About the Role American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) seeks a Senior Operation Manager for Meetings & Events to connect regional teams with global standards and drive high-quality event delivery across Spain and Italy. The role acts as a strategic communicator and reputation ambassador for the Spain/Italy markets, overseeing event operations for a leading global creative events agency and ensuring operational excellence at scale. The position requires experience in the events industry, with a focus on operations, communications, and marketing.

What You'll Do

• Drive operational excellence, ensure consistent high-quality event delivery, manage P&L, optimize processes, and maintain compliance across both countries
• Lead and coach Team Leaders; foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the region
• Lead transformation initiatives (process harmonization, new tools, AI adoption) and drive organizational change to improve efficiency and operational maturity
• Serve as senior escalation point for major clients; ensure operational delivery aligns with expectations; act as trusted creative advisor and strategic partner
• Represent the agency in Spanish & Italian markets; build relationships with media, industry associations, influencers, and thought leaders to enhance market visibility
• Partner with cross-functional teams and international peers to align on global standards, best practices, and multi-market project delivery
• Focus on operational efficiency, project delivery quality, employee engagement, client satisfaction and profitability

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years in event agency operations/production
• Fluent in Spanish and English; Italian language proficiency is a plus
• Proven experience managing large multi-layered teams across multiple countries
• Strong stakeholder management and external communication skills
• Strong leader with a track record in the event/communication industry
• Existing network that can help develop visibility through external communications

• Italian language proficiency is a plus
• Experience operating in Spain & Italy markets with cross-border collaboration
