About this role

At the core of the role

We are looking for a Senior Node.js Engineer to join an international team working on a long-term project in the banking domain. You will develop and maintain business-critical Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) APIs and event-driven systems using AWS serverless technologies, contributing to architectural decisions, system reliability, and continuous technical improvements.

Core skills you’ll bring

5+ years of backend engineering experience, including at least 2 years with Node.js and TypeScript.

Solid experience with AWS serverless services (Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3).

Strong understanding of design patterns and software architecture.

Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform and CDK).

Experience with TypeScript testing (unit, integration, system).

Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka).

Familiarity with RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

English — Upper-Intermediate or higher.

Nice-to-have

Experience with monorepo setups (pnpm workspaces or similar).

Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and ORMs (Prisma).

Experience with NoSQL databases.

German language skills.

Ensure production reliability through on-call support, incident investigation, and issue resolution.
