Job title: Senior Mobile Technician
About the Role The Senior Mobile Technician provides expert maintenance and repair of JB Hunt trailers, containers, chassis, and power equipment at customer sites or rail yards using a mobile service truck. This role acts as a subject matter expert and mentor, ensuring work meets JB Hunt specifications.
What You'll Do
- Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks including tire replacements/flat repairs, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and basic structural repairs on tractor and trailer equipment
- Oversee recall campaigns and sign off on completion
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ABS systems and specialized equipment including refrigerated units, lift gates, and frame alignment
- Onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks
- Follow all safety requirements at customer sites or rail yards; professionally operate the assigned service truck and manage parts inventory
- Accurately complete work orders and other written materials; properly document damage to company equipment to estimate repair costs
- Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment; patch holes and seal water-tight
- Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections sign-off
- Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs
What We're Looking For
- Minimum qualifications: 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences: clean motor vehicle record per JB Hunt guidelines; ability to supply your own basic tools or purchase through toolbox program; willingness to work outdoors in the elements; ability to work across multiple shifts, including night shifts
Nice to Have
- Experience with mobile service trucks and on-site repairs
- Familiarity with AA Trailer and FHWA Brake inspections
- Welding and chassis/frame repair experience
- Experience mentoring and leading a team
