Senior Merchandiser, Gap Inc International Franchise

GAP
55 Thomas Street, New York, NY 10013 Posted Oct 5, 2026
USD 107,500 - 139,800 / year

About this role

Gap Inc International Franchise

You will own the international product strategy that balances the needs of the global consumer with Gap's brand objectives, and translate that strategy into a prescriptive assortment our franchise partners can execute against with confidence. You will determine what's core to the brand story everywhere, what flexes by market, and where there's genuine white space we're not yet serving — and turn that thinking into commercially-viable, sell-through-ready assortments across our partner network. You will manage assortment-level IMU objectives that support partner profitability, and partner with International Design to develop exclusive product that closes gaps the core brand doesn't address. You lean into our authentic history to lead boldly with intention, defy convention, and unlock growth in markets beyond our owned footprint.

What you'll do

  • Develop an international product strategy that balances global consumer needs with brand objectives, and use it as the throughline for every merchandising decision across the partner network

  • Build and maintain the prescriptive assortment framework by category — defining core CC's, protected depth, and guardrails by store format/channel type that ladder back to that strategy

  • Partner with International Design to identify and develop international exclusive product that meets consumer white space opportunities not addressed by the core brand assortment, in service of the broader strategy

  • Own the regional nuance process: partner with in-market teams to flag fit preferences, seasonal timing shifts, and local cultural moments that require adaptation, without compromising the strategy or brand consistency

  • Build assortments that support partner-level IMU objectives, balancing product mix and price architecture to help partners hit their financial goals within the strategic framework

  • Translate the seasonal brand story and global big ideas into a franchise sell-in strategy, including tiering guidance and booking cheat sheets partners can act on

  • Partner with Planning, Allocation and Franchise Operations to manage seasonal investment strategy by market and partner, protecting big ideas and long-lead-time commitments

  • Identify business opportunities and risks by market through analyzing partner sell-through, market share trends, and marketplace/competitive information

  • Act as a trusted advisor to franchise partners on assortment strategy, responsible for the quality of merchandising guidance provided to the partner network

  • Support market week kickoffs, early book guidance, and new partner/market launches, ensuring the prescriptive assortment sets new doors up for success from day one

  • Responsible for end results of team and shares responsibility over resources, budget and adherence to policies

  • Who you are

  • Strong strategic and analytical ability, with the judgment to build a product strategy first and translate it into frameworks (tiering, guardrails, prescriptive logic) others execute against

  • Driven for results with strong financial acumen, including comfort with margin/IMU levers and wholesale sell-in economics

  • Excellent verbal and written ability; adept at presenting information and storytelling to external partners as well as internal teams — this role represents the brand story directly to partners

  • Ability to align with, collaborate and influence cross-functional partners, peers, and third-party franchise partners across time zones and cultures

  • Ability to assess relatively complex situations — including varied market dynamics and partner needs — and analyze data to make judgments and recommend solutions

  • Comfort holding the line on brand consistency while staying genuinely responsive to local market input

  • Salary Range: $107,500.00 - $139,800.00

  • Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.

  • Benefits at Gap Inc.

  • Merchandise discount for our brands: 50% off regular-priced merchandise at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta, and 30% off at Outlet for all employees

  • One of the most competitive Paid Time Off plans in the industry.

  • Employees can take up to five “on the clock” hours each month to volunteer at a charity of their choice.

  • Extensive 401(k) plan with company matching for contributions up to four percent of an employee’s base pay.

  • Employee stock purchase plan.

  • Medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
