About the Role
Med-Vical International is seeking a competent, experienced, and patient-focused Senior Medical Officer to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical care, support clinical decision-making, supervise junior medical staff, and contribute to the delivery of safe and effective patient-centred healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients.
- Conduct patient consultations and take detailed medical histories and examinations.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical findings and established medical protocols.
- Review laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic results and make appropriate clinical decisions.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with approved clinical guidelines.
- Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans where necessary.
- Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare professionals when required.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to junior medical officers and other relevant clinical staff.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, case reviews, and multidisciplinary team activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records.
- Promote adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality-of-care standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital programmes.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of clinical policies and standard operating procedures.
- Provide health education and appropriate counselling to patients and their relatives.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and ensure timely escalation when necessary.
- Perform other clinical duties as may be assigned by the Medical Director or management.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Valid current practising licence.
- Minimum of 3–5 years post-NYSC clinical experience.
- Previous experience in a hospital or private healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Experience in Pediatrics or Neonatal care will be an added advantage.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Good knowledge of evidence-based medical practice and clinical protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage emergency situations.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, empathy, and patient confidentiality.
