About this role
About the Role Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for driving concept designs of mechanical sub-systems for camera hardware across professional and mission-critical markets. You will work with a team of highly qualified engineers to develop robust, manufacturable mechanical solutions and mentor junior engineers to help deliver safe, reliable products. What You'll Do
- Drive concept designs of mechanical sub-systems to meet customer requirements, reliability, robustness, manufacturing processes, and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate on overall mechanical subsystem architecture and detailed components including injection molding plastics, die casting, sheet metal stamping, rubbers/elastomers, and PCBA and electromechanical assemblies.
- Hands-on design in 3D modeling and generation of 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standards.
- Understand tolerances and their effect on design (Six Sigma design methodology).
- Set up and maintain bills of materials and release mechanical prints.
- Mentor and coach junior Mechanical Engineers; guide troubleshooting of prototype parts.
- Define test methodologies and development processes per product specifications.
- Review certification testing results and mitigate compliance issues.
- Develop and support content for user manuals/instruction sheets. What We're Looking For
- At least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Strong familiarity with PTC Creo 3D or SolidWorks for modeling and surfacing, or equivalent.
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, metal stamping, plastic bonding, metal welding, and PCBA & electromechanical assembly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and ability to present concepts to technical audiences.
- Travel: None. Nice to Have
- Familiarity with material properties and design guidelines for plastics, die castings, and sheet metal stamping.
- Six Sigma or green/black belt certification.
- Finite Element Analysis experience for structural and heat transfer applications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes involving injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, compression molding, and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA).
- Experience designing products to meet IP water sealing requirements (IP standard).
