About this role
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Project description
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of automotive components, with a focus on 3D modeling, surface design, mechanical part design, and product integration. The ideal candidate will have experience with CATIA V5, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and mechanical design principles, preferably within the automotive industry.
The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to develop products that meet customer specifications, quality standards, and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Analyze customer specifications, technical requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
- Lead the 3D design and development of mechanical components and assemblies using CATIA V5, including Generative Shape Design (GSD) and Part Design.
- Develop and optimize plastic components, ensuring feasibility for injection molding and manufacturing.
- Create and validate 2D engineering drawings in accordance with applicable standards.
- Perform GD&T analysis according to ASME Y14.5 and conduct tolerance stack-up studies.
- Evaluate design feasibility considering assembly, tooling, manufacturing processes, finishing, and product integration.
- Perform or support structural, modal, and preliminary thermal analyses as required.
- Collaborate with optical, electronic, manufacturing, quality, and project teams to ensure product integration.
- Prepare technical justifications, design reviews, and engineering documentation.
- Identify technical risks, propose design solutions, and drive resolution of complex engineering issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the design team.
- Ensure deliverables meet customer expectations, quality standards, and project milestones.
