About the Role Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Abbott Vascular in St. Paul, MN provides engineering support to the Manufacturing organization to enable efficient production, optimize processes, and ensure production goals are met. The role monitors equipment performance and corrects issues that cause non-conforming products, low yields, or quality problems, and collaborates with Quality and R&D to integrate new products or processes into the manufacturing area.

What You'll Do

  • Provide engineering support for daily production initiatives, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and personnel training.
  • Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes for current programs, next generation programs, and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company.
  • Conduct Process FMEAs and Process Validations.
  • Provide guidance and technical mentorship to engineers and technicians.
  • Improve product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput through Lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Coordinate the design, procurement, build and debug of tooling, machinery and test equipment; work with Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability in the electromechanical medical device space.
  • Analyze and solve problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts through a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches or a major breakthrough in technology.
  • Understand engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques.
  • Be innovative, resourceful, and work with minimal direction; have excellent organization, problem solving, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams; comply with FDA regulations, QMS, EMS, and other regulatory requirements; travel as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or any engineering or technical degree OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience; medical device experience required.
  • International manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills; demonstrated leadership capability in team settings.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred; ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse environment.
  • Ability to work in a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment; strong verbal and written communications; multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines; strong organizational and follow-up skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, including internationally (if applicable).

Nice to Have

  • Experience applying Design for Manufacturability principles in electromechanical medical devices.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay: USD 78,000.00 – 156,000.00 per year.
