We are looking for a Senior Manager, Technical Revenue Accounting to be based in Europe.
This role reports to the Head of Technical Revenue Accounting and partners closely with cross-functional teams (Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, Revenue Operations Accounting, Strategic Finance, Product, and IT) to lead Genesys' most complex EMEA revenue accounting matters. The Senior Manager will serve as the senior technical accounting lead for high-value, non-standard European transactions and for evaluations of how new and evolving EU regulations affect contract structures, systems, and revenue recognition.
This is a highly visible, business-facing leadership role for someone who combines deep ASC 606 expertise with exceptional responsiveness, commercial judgment, and practical problem-solving. You will be expected to engage early, move quickly, communicate clear conclusions, workshop and brainstorm workable alternatives real-time, and maintain strong follow-through across urgent deal cycles and regulatory matters. This work supports timely deal execution, audit-ready conclusions, accurate revenue reporting, and scalable growth across a complex EMEA environment.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
-
Serve as the senior technical revenue accounting lead for complex and judgmental EMEA transactions, including high-value, multi-country, highly negotiated, and precedent-setting arrangements.
-
Lead accounting impact evaluations for new and evolving EU regulations, partnering closely with Legal and using documented legal conclusions to determine implications for revenue accounting and operational processes (billing, systems, controls, etc.).
-
Identify and implement opportunities to use AI, automation, and standardized tools to accelerate regulatory research, contract review, issue tracking, and memo development without compromising judgment, documentation quality, or control rigor.
-
Set and model an exceptionally high standard of responsiveness, urgency, ownership, and follow-through for Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, and Revenue Operations Accounting, particularly during time-sensitive deal negotiations and close periods.
-
Engage early in deal cycles to separate accounting requirements from business choices, identify risks before terms are finalized, and recommend practical alternatives that enable commercial objectives while preserving compliant and scalable outcomes.
-
Perform and review complex ASC 606 analyses and contract waterfalls across SaaS, usage-based, AI, hybrid cloud, professional services, reseller, and other evolving commercial models, including SSP, variable consideration, contract modifications, material rights, termination provisions, and principal-versus-agent considerations.
-
Own the end-to-end documentation of complex and precedent-setting EMEA matters, including technical accounting memoranda, contract assessments, calculations, consultation records, and audit evidence.
-
Translate technical and regulatory conclusions into clear operating guidance for downstream teams, including Legal, Revenue Operations Accounting, Order Management, Billing, IT, and the broader revenue organization.
-
Act as the primary escalation point for complex EMEA revenue matters; anticipate issues, communicate emerging risks early, and drive resolution without surprises across multiple countries and time zones.
-
Present complex accounting positions and recommended paths forward to senior Finance and commercial leaders, external auditors, and outside advisors, and lead related audit discussions through resolution.
-
Lead, coach, and review the contract revenue assessment and waterfall calculations of managers and other team members, strengthening technical judgment and consistency of execution.
-
Support month-end and quarter-end close by ensuring complex EMEA transactions are assessed timely, accounting conclusions are complete, and calculations are complete and accurate.
Requirements
-
Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a people management or formal team leadership capacity, with hands-on software, SaaS, or technology industry experience.
-
Deep expertise in ASC 606 and US GAAP, with demonstrated application to complex SaaS and enterprise arrangements and significant experience preparing and reviewing technical accounting memoranda.
-
Recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent internationally recognized qualification) required.
-
Demonstrated experience leading the accounting evaluation of complex, urgent, and highly negotiated transactions in partnership with Deal Desk, Legal, Sales, and Revenue Operations or Accounting teams.
-
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex facts, provide clear recommendations, and influence senior Finance and commercial stakeholders.
-
Proven people leadership skills, including setting priorities, reviewing high-judgment work, coaching managers and individual contributors, and building accountability across a distributed team.
-
Ability to operate independently with sound commercial and technical accounting judgment, attention to detail, and ability to re-prioritize as new items arise.
-
Desirable Skills
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; prior public accounting / Big 4 experience preferred.
-
Experience with EU data, digital, AI, cloud sovereignty, consumer, or sector-specific regulations and their impact on commercial contracts or revenue recognition.
-
Experience supporting multinational and cross-border SaaS transactions, including large enterprise or regulated-industry customers in EMEA.
-
Experience with Salesforce, contract lifecycle management tools, Zuora RevPro, Workday, or similar revenue recognition and ERP systems, including systems integrations or migrations.
-
Demonstrated experience with SOX controls, public-company audit readiness, and leading complex external audit consultations.
-
Experience using AI-enabled tools, advanced Excel, or data tools to improve the speed, quality, and scalability of technical accounting processes.
