Job title: Senior Manager of Cost Accounting and Inventory Management
About the Role Ontic is seeking a Senior Manager of Cost Accounting and Inventory Management to lead inventory accounting, cost accounting, and inventory control across manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain. The role ensures accurate product costing and inventory valuation, provides operational financial analysis, and maintains strong internal controls while partnering with cross-functional teams. The position reports to the Group Controller and is based onsite in Creedmoor, NC.
What You'll Do
- Lead all aspects of actual costing and inventory valuation processes.
- Develop and maintain accurate product cost models, including labor, material, and overhead allocations.
- Drive process improvements, provide actionable insights to leadership, and help optimize inventory performance and profitability.
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and IT to ensure robust internal controls and compliance across manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain operations.
- Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, and inventory control functions and ensure data integrity in ERP systems.
- Provide operational financial analysis and reporting to leadership; support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Report to the Group Controller and lead with a hands-on, results-oriented management style.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; 8+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing finance.
- Strong knowledge of inventory costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing accounting.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, industrial, or related industries; multi-site or global manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems such as Visual, Syteline, and Epicor.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks; experience leading ERP implementations or finance transformations preferred.
- Advanced data analytics and reporting capabilities (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, etc.) preferred.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; excellent leadership and people management capabilities.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across operations and finance teams; strong communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on finance leadership with deep expertise in standard costing, inventory processes, ERP systems, and cross-functional business partnership.
