Summary
The Center for AI & Digital Experience (AIDE) is a joint, mission-driven center jointly established between University Hospitals (UH)–Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) to focus on advancing human-centered artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The Senior Manager for Center Operations manages the day-to-day operations of the Center for AIDE, partnering with the Executive Director to establish core operating processes. The person in this role will manage the staffing and recruiting, onboarding, team development, and office infrastructure. The Senior Manager will lead the AIDE community and industry engagement, including coordination and engagement with the External Advisory Council, conferences and events planning and execution, communication and branding, and ongoing commercialization and philanthropic development. This role requires strong cross-institutional coordination skills and the ability to manage operational processes across NEOMED, University Hospitals, and related governance, administrative, communications, development, and compliance offices.
Principal Functional Responsibilities
Center Operations and Infrastructure: Manage the daily activities and operational functions of AIDE. Partner with the Executive Director to establish, document, and continuously improve the AIDE strategic plan. Ensure AIDE operates efficiently and in alignment with institutional policies and strategic priorities. Create and manage budgets, track expenses, and analyze financial reports to ensure sustainability. Purchase needed supplies and equipment according to relevant budget(s) and AIDE needs.
Staffing, Recruiting, and Team Development: Organize staffing and recruiting activities to build and sustain a high-performing AIDE team, with particular emphasis during the center’s early development. Oversee onboarding of new staff; develop and implement continuous learning initiatives. Foster a collaborative and high-functioning team culture consistent with NEOMED and University Hospitals’ values. Complete performance evaluations and mentoring for direct reports. Directly supervise and evaluate operations coordinator.
Conferences, Competitions, and Events: Organize the coordination, planning, and execution of conferences and events that enhance the branding and anchoring of AIDE as a “thought leader” in the space of AI research, design, and implementation in healthcare. Partner with the Executive Director and Senior Manager of AI Enablement to design programs for sourcing AI opportunities through cross-institutional promotion, competitions, or workshops.
Community and Industry Engagement: Lead AIDE’s external engagement strategy, serving as a primary point of contact for community and industry partners. Manage the External Advisory Council, including logistical coordination of meetings and follow-through on action items. Represent AIDE at conferences and events and lead the planning and execution of center-hosted convenings.
Research Related Activities: Coordinate administrative and operational requirements for IRB submissions, continuing review, protocol amendments, and related research documentation, as needed. Oversee AIDE grant application processes, ensuring efficient communication between sponsored projects offices and investigators associated with extramural funding applications.
Communication and Branding: Oversee AIDE’s marketing and branding efforts to build visibility and reputation with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and maintain communication materials, digital presence, and messaging consistent with AIDE’s mission and institutional brand standards. Coordinate with institutional marketing and communications as needed.
Commercialization and Philanthropic Engagement: Support ongoing commercialization and philanthropic engagement efforts on behalf of AIDE, in coordination with the Executive Director and appropriate institutional offices. Help maintain relationships with potential philanthropic partners, donors, and industry collaborators. Work with the Executive Director and relevant institutional offices to advance funding and partnership opportunities aligned with the center’s goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, public or healthcare administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in operations management, program administration, or a related role, preferably in a higher education, research, or innovation center environment.

Demonstrated experience leading recruiting, onboarding, and team development efforts.

Experience with planning and executing signature events, summits, consortia, and/or conferences to advance a topic or theme within a given industry or field.

Experience managing external stakeholder relationships, advisory boards, or industry partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in technology, AI, or digital health-focused organization or center.

Familiarity with philanthropic engagement, development activities, or commercialization processes.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience managing organizational branding or communications.

Certificates in human-centered design or design thinking (e.g., IDEOU, LUMA Institute, IBM Design Thinking).
