About this role
Senior Manager, IT & Business Systems — StemWave Boston, MA · Full-time, in office · Reports to Head of Finance & Admin
About StemWave
StemWave is a non-invasive regenerative medical device company reshaping healthcare alongside our provider partners. Our technology helps people live pain-free by activating the body’s natural healing process, without drugs or surgery. We’re a ~100-person company scaling fast, and our systems need to scale with us.
The opportunity
This is a builder role for someone who would rather fix it than file a ticket about it. You’ll own every system that runs StemWave (Salesforce, NetSuite, RF-Smart, Shopify, Zapier, etc.). You’ll set the IT strategy and roadmap, lead a lean team (today, an IT Manager and a Salesforce Administrator), and still be the person who jumps into an API integration, debugs a broken Zapier flow, or sets up a new hire’s laptop on their first morning. You’ll report to our Head of Finance & Administration and partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Operations.
If you’ve built IT from the ground up at a startup, like owning both the strategy and the screwdriver, and pick up new platforms quickly, this role is for you.
What you’ll do
-
Own IT, end to end and in person
-
Run day-to-day IT for the office: hardware and equipment, device setup and lifecycle, onboarding/offboarding, accounts and access, network, printers, conferencing and end-user support.
-
Manage IT asset inventory, software licenses and vendor contracts.
-
Own security basics and standards: permissions frameworks, access reviews, backups, documentation and SOPs.
-
Serve as the escalation point for systems issues and cross-functional technical blockers.
-
Build and run our business systems
-
Administer and optimize Salesforce: automation, workflows, permissions, configuration and integrations.
-
Design, build and maintain integrations across Salesforce, NetSuite, HighRadius, RF-Smart, Shopify, marketing platforms, analytics tools and our website.
-
Own the technical infrastructure behind the website: backend logic, lead capture, routing, tracking, attribution and performance.
-
Build marketing attribution and marketing-to-Salesforce connectivity across Meta, Google, YouTube and Bing.
-
Write and maintain APIs, middleware and automation (Zapier or similar) that remove manual work.
-
Build our AI and cloud infrastructure
-
Stand up and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar) as the business grows.
-
Lead the rollout of AI tools and AI-powered workflows across the company: selecting tools, connecting them to our data and systems, and setting guardrails.
-
Evaluate, learn and implement new platforms quickly as needs change.
-
Lead the team and the roadmap
-
Build, own and execute the IT strategy and a multi-year systems roadmap.
-
Lead and develop the IT and Business Systems team (an IT Manager and a Salesforce Administrator today) and grow it as the business scales. Delegate based on each person’s strengths and coach where they’re still growing.
-
Manage contractors, external developers, agencies and platform vendors.
-
Prioritize competing requests from across the company and say clearly what gets done when.
-
Bring your manager options, trade-offs and honest pushback, not just status updates.
-
Who you are
-
Startup builder. You’ve worked on a small startup team or built an IT function from scratch. You know what “good enough for now” looks like and when it isn’t.
-
Scrappy and hands-on. No task is beneath you. You’ll unbox a monitor in the morning and write an integration in the afternoon. The team is lean, so you’re comfortable covering any part of the stack yourself when it’s needed.
-
Fast learner. You pick up new platforms on the fly and are excited, not anxious, about tools you haven’t used yet.
-
Flexible, and leads by example. You adapt as priorities shift, set the standard for your team by doing the work, and can have direct, constructive conversations with your manager.
-
Organized and structured. You run a clean backlog, document as you go, delegate well, and can read the strengths and gaps of the people around you to put the right person on the right work.
-
What you bring
-
4–6 years of IT leadership, including building IT strategy and systems roadmaps (startup or high-growth required; building a team or function from the ground up strongly preferred).
-
Hands-on ownership of day-to-day IT: hardware, end-user support, onboarding/offboarding, access and security.
-
2+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration (automation, configuration, integrations).
-
2+ years building and supporting integrations (APIs, middleware, automation tools) in a company with substantial sales and marketing operations.
-
Experience with Zapier or similar, Shopify, NetSuite, and AWS or another cloud environment.
-
Experience building or deploying AI infrastructure or AI-powered workflows.
-
Strong experience connecting websites, SEO systems and marketing platforms to Salesforce.
-
Solid grasp of marketing attribution across paid media (Meta, Google, YouTube, Bing).
-
Experience managing contractors, agencies or external developers.
-
Clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical teams.
-
Why join us
-
Real ownership: You’ll design the systems a growing medical device company runs on, not inherit someone else’s.
-
Leadership access: Work directly with the decision-makers shaping the company.
-
End-to-end exposure: See the full business, from manufacturing and fulfillment to sales, marketing and service.
-
Growth: As we scale, so does your team and your scope.
Compensation
Base salary of $150,000–$170,000, based on experience.
