About the Role Lead a team of data storage, data management and data engineering professionals to design, implement, and operate Arctic Wolf's data platform across regions, ensuring availability, security, performance, and cost-efficiency. Provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in data pipelines, storage strategies, and analytics to support cybersecurity insights.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a team of data storage, data management, and data engineering professionals.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise; oversee development, security, and performance of data platform.
  • Ensure availability and cost-efficiency of data infrastructure; coordinate data solutions across multiple geographical regions.
  • Manage data warehouse, OLTP databases, OpenSearch, and Elasticache clusters.
  • Develop data pipelines, query jobs and dashboards via notebooks.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement technology for long-term data storage including data lake.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on performance, throughput objectives; educate teams on available technologies.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks for operational events; identify and correct inefficiencies.
  • Recruit and develop DB operations/automation team; maintain business continuity.
  • Oversee software/tools for design, infrastructure, platforms including OS, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases; determine hardware compatibility.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel; provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 on-call support two weeks per month.
  • Telecommuting permissible from anywhere in the U.S.; participate in on-call rotation as required; benefits package.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field; six years of experience in data engineering/DB operations roles.
  • Designing and managing high-availability solutions in a high-volume security telemetry environment.
  • Knowledge of data schemas.
  • Experience using tools to migrate data from SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle to cloud databases.
  • Experience writing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using project management tools.
  • Designing and managing databases; schema design, indexing, performance tuning.
  • Developing applications/scripts/utilities to automate tasks.
  • Designing and managing NoSQL databases; administering database platforms with backup/recovery, high availability, performance tuning.
  • Using automation technologies to automate IT processes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cybersecurity telemetry data and cloud stack; data lake implementations.
