About this role

About the Role EdgeConneX is seeking a Sr. Manager, Energy Development to act as the energy authority for the assigned U.S. sub-market. This is a strategic and tactical role: own regional energy strategy, manage utility and regulatory relationships, and direct contracted resources, while operating as an intelligent client and regional decision-maker. There is potential for growth to a team-lead function as ECX pipelines mature.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and own the regional energy strategy, representing ECX with utilities and regulators, and informing all key energy decisions for the region.
  • Lead development and negotiation of energy-related contracts (utility service agreements, large-load interconnection agreements, energy supply contracts, power purchase agreements, and rate schedule elections); direct legal, consulting, and technical resources through negotiation processes.
  • Evaluate energy tariffs and identify optimal procurement structures; ensure terms, milestones, and obligations are tracked through execution.
  • Own and cultivate primary utility relationships (T&D providers, interconnection staff, regulatory affairs contacts, grid operator personnel); engage regulators and participate in rate cases and stakeholder processes.
  • Drive power capacity delivery from earliest site evaluation through energization; oversee interconnection management, permitting, and construction oversight; develop infrastructure strategies (grid connections, high-voltage substations, energy storage).
  • Independently navigate ambiguous regulatory and utility processes, maintaining momentum and keeping stakeholders informed of timelines.

What We're Looking For

  • 7–12 years energy-sector experience with utility relationships and energy contract negotiation, interconnection and capacity delivery, consultant direction, and a relevant bachelor's degree; data-center experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regional grid conditions, interconnection queues, capacity markets, and regulatory risk.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional resources and influence without direct authority.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: USD 175,000-$200,000 per year.
  • Remote work eligibility.
