About this role

Careers / Cabling + Security

Leads structured cabling installs from rough-in through certification, splices and certifies fiber, troubleshoots faults to root cause, and serves as the on-site point of contact.

Full-Time, W-2 or Contractor 4 locations in AZ Senior Travel required

About this role

The Senior Low Voltage Technician leads Unió Digital's structured cabling work in the field. You will run installs from rough-in through certification, terminate and fusion splice fiber, certify copper and fiber, and troubleshoot faults to root cause on projects in data centers, medical facilities, offices, industrial sites, and mine sites.

On some jobs you are the on-site point of contact. You will work with the Field Operations Lead and the Project Manager, guide the technicians working with you, coordinate with general contractors and other trades, and keep the Project Manager and Account Manager informed about schedule, scope changes, and opportunities. Occupied buildings sometimes mean after-hours work. Some client sites and mine sites require site-specific safety training, a background check, or drug screening before you can work there.

This role suits a technician with at least five years in low voltage or electrical work who can explain how a structured cabling system fits together and holds the work to code, standards, and the design. This seat is open as a W-2 employee position or as a contractor engagement. W-2 employees receive company-paid certifications and training.

Offer factors

Where you land in the range depends on experience, certifications, and role scope.

What you'll do

  • Lead cabling work on site: plan the day's tasks, guide and coach the technicians working with you, and hold the job to the schedule and the design

  • Install and service low voltage cabling for data, voice, coaxial, audio-visual, and fiber optic systems

  • Terminate Cat6 and Cat6A on jacks and patch panels, and build out racks, cable management, and rack grounding and bonding in telecom rooms

  • Fusion splice and terminate single-mode and multimode fiber, and inspect and clean connector end faces before testing

  • Certify copper with a Trend Networks LanTEK IV, certify fiber with FiberTEK IV adapters and verify it with an OTDR, and submit the test reports to the Project Manager

  • Troubleshoot low voltage systems and trace faults to root cause, on new installs and on service calls

  • Install and terminate cameras, card readers, request-to-exit devices, and other access control and video equipment

  • Read and interpret floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets, and resolve field conflicts before they become rework

  • Deliver redlined drawings, labeling records, and photo documentation for the closeout package, and log your time and notes in HaloPSA

  • Act as the on-site point of contact for clients, general contractors, and other trades on the jobs you lead, and resolve job-site issues by phone, email, or service ticket

  • Tell the Project Manager and Account Manager about issues, scope changes, and new opportunities as they come up

  • Keep tools, test equipment, and materials secure, accounted for, and in working order

  • Follow Unió Digital's safety program: complete the daily pre-task plan, wear required protective equipment, and report hazards, near misses, and incidents

  • What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in the low voltage or electrical industry

  • Hands-on experience terminating, splicing, and testing fiber, and running a cable certifier such as the Trend Networks LanTEK IV or an equivalent

  • Able to explain how a structured cabling system fits together: pathways, spaces, horizontal cabling, copper and fiber backbone, cross-connects and interconnects, and testing

  • Knows the codes and standards that apply to cabling, including the ANSI/TIA standards and the National Electrical Code, and can tell a requirement from a best practice

  • Works independently with minimal supervision, communicates clearly with clients and the project team, and is ready to lead other technicians on site

  • Able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to climb ladders, work from lifts and in ceilings and tight spaces, lift and carry cable and equipment, and work in heat and dust

  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that Unió Digital's vehicle insurer accepts

  • OSHA 10-hour Construction card, or willingness to earn one after hire

  • BICSI Installer 2 (Copper or Optical Fiber) or Technician certification, FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), or an OSHA 30-hour card is a plus

  • Eligible to work in the U.S., based in or relocating to one of the listed hiring locations, and able to meet the published travel requirements

  • How We Work

  • Our Core Values

  • These four values are the same on every role. They describe how the team operates, not the duties of this posting.

  • Dream Big, Then Make It Real

  • Bring the ambitious idea, then do the work that makes it real. Ambition counts here, and so does follow-through.

  • Client Driven Results

  • Your scoreboard is the client's result. Find the solution, own the outcome, and treat their success as the job.

  • Own Your Progress

  • You own your work, your misses, and your next skill. We help. We do not hide from problems.

  • We Do It Right

  • Do the correct thing even when no one is watching. Quality is the job, not a slogan.

  • Equal Opportunity

  • Unió Digital hires for skill, character, and fit with our team. Full stop. We do not consider race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other legally protected characteristic in employment decisions. If you need an accommodation during the application or interview process, we will figure it out together.
