Senior Legal Counsel

Nexo
Sofia, Bulgaria Posted Nov 4, 2026
Full-timeOn-site

About this role

**Driving the next generation of wealth.

Digital assets are redefining how wealth is created, used, and transferred. Since 2018 at Nexo, we have been building the future model of financial wealth - dynamic, accessible, and designed for a new generation of forward-thinking investors.

But technology alone doesn’t drive progress. People do.

We are a team of builders, strategists, analysts, creatives, and operators united by a shared mindset: advancement. We move fast, think long term, and take ownership. We challenge ideas, not people. We value clarity over noise and impact over optics.

What makes Nexo different?

We shape industry trends. We rethink how wealth works and build solutions that reflect that belief.

That requires a certain kind of person.

You will thrive here when you think independently and act decisively, take ownership without waiting for permission, and care deeply about quality, long-term value, and disciplined execution. The people who succeed at Nexo bring analytical depth, sound judgment, and resilience - but also curiosity and the drive to keep improving.

This is an environment for people who want to lead, create, and elevate what already exists. If building what’s next excites you, you’ll feel at home at Nexo.

Your role:

  • Draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements with banks, payment providers, investment firms, vendors, and other regulated partners, including service-level agreements and general terms and conditions.

  • Assess US and international licensing and regulatory requirements for Nexo’s business, and advise how regulatory changes affect our plans.

  • Support US-related initiatives together with the US legal team and external US counsel, including bank, payment provider, investment, and licensing matters.

  • Support negotiations with financial partners from term sheet to signed agreement.

  • Be a go-to legal partner for Compliance, Business, and Product teams, so legal and regulatory requirements are considered early.

  • Support the legal setup of new products and programs as they arise.

  • Turn recurring questions into templates, playbooks, and self-service guidance, including AI-assisted workflows.

  • Work closely with colleagues across the legal team and share coverage when they are away.

  • Handle ad-hoc legal queries from across Nexo.

  • Report to the Head of Legal and work with regional counsels, external counsel, and regulators.

  • Share knowledge with colleagues and, over time, help develop junior team members. What makes you stand out:

  • Master’s degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) and a strong academic record.

  • 5+ years of experience in-house or in a law firm, advising US-regulated entities such as banks, payment companies, fintechs, or investment advisers.

  • Strong US law exposure, with a focus on commercial agreements, regulatory matters, or both.

  • Experience negotiating with banks, payment providers, or other regulated financial institutions.

  • Working knowledge of US financial regulation, such as licensing, AML, consumer protection, or securities and investment adviser rules.

  • Experience supporting product or program launches is a plus.

  • Crypto and blockchain experience is a plus, not a requirement. We’ll help you build it.

  • Ability to turn regulatory risk into practical, business-friendly solutions.

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, and excellent written and spoken English.

  • A hands-on mindset: comfortable drafting, negotiating, advising, and getting things done without a large support team.

  • Comfortable using AI tools to speed up drafting, research, and contract review.

  • Ability to work independently on complex, cross-jurisdictional projects in a fast-paced environment, and as a team player who shares knowledge so no single person is a bottleneck.

  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills, with attention to detail. Nexo benefits:**

  • Competitive and rewarding remuneration package.

  • Annual performance-based bonuses.

  • Comprehensive Learning Hub for continuous growth.

  • Hybrid work model: primarily office-based with scheduled home office flexibility.

  • A dynamic and inspiring environment with cutting-edge projects.

  • Career development opportunities in a global leader driving the next generation of wealth.
