Within the Finance team you play a key role in evaluating, controlling and continuously improving financial and operational processes to ensure SOX compliance, internal controls and the obligations of a publicly traded company.

You contribute to strengthening process efficiency, reducing operational and financial risks, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.

We are looking for a pragmatic, hands-on professional who can translate analyses into concrete actions and contribute to long-term process improvements within the organization.

Your responsibilities

  • Audit financial and operational processes to identify risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements as well as group policies and procedures.
  • Review key processes such as payments, payroll and other sensitive financial flows.
  • Conduct process reviews with various departments and guide managers in implementing corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Finance, HR, Payroll, Procurement and Operations to thoroughly understand processes, identify risks and effectively implement improvements.
  • Propose and drive improvements to strengthen operational efficiency, risk management and the quality of internal controls.
  • Participate in the preparation and follow-up of external audits.
  • Document and maintain procedures and internal controls up to date.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and best practices in internal control.

Desired profile

  • Higher education degree in Finance, Accounting, Audit or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in internal control, audit, finance or process improvement.
  • Strong accounting knowledge to understand and analyze financial flows, the income statement (P&L) and the balance sheet.
  • Good understanding of financial processes and internal control mechanisms.
  • Experience implementing, following up or improving controls, procedures or financial processes.
  • Experience within an international organization, a publicly traded company or an industrial environment is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of SOX requirements is a significant plus.
  • Knowledge of Belgian taxation and legislation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Dutch or French, complemented by good knowledge of English.

This role is particularly suitable for professionals who have practical experience in internal control, audit, finance, process improvement or risk management.

We are primarily seeking an operational and hands-on profile who is comfortable in an environment where not all processes are fully structured. In addition to identifying risks and formulating recommendations, we expect the candidate to actively support teams in the implementation, follow-up and sustainable improvement of processes and controls.

A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial flows is essential to succeed in this role, without necessarily requiring an accountant by training or profession.

Skills and personal attributes

  • Analytical mindset and critical thinking.
  • Curiosity and an investigative attitude.
  • Ability to quickly understand how an organization works and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Autonomous, precise and proactive.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to evaluate processes constructively and critically.
