About the Role Senior Industrial Engineer responsible for labor modeling, plant layout, costing, and operational efficiency in Lear's Southfield facility. You will collaborate with Plant Operations, Sales, Program Management, and Finance to design and optimize manufacturing processes and automation initiatives. What You'll Do
- Work closely with Senior Advanced Manufacturing Engineers to perform labor analysis and optimization to improve plant efficiency and validate concepts by evaluating labor and overhead savings to justify automation investments.
- Audit plants for standards alignment and design best-in-class manufacturing environments; develop automation addressing value-added processes and material storage and movement.
- Utilize simulation tools to optimize processes with focus on throughput, flexibility, and uptime; build digital twin models to evaluate and optimize material flow.
- Collaborate with equipment groups to understand financial returns for automation concepts.
- Travel up to 30% to plant sites and communicate across cross-functional teams to implement productivity improvements. What We're Looking For
- Industrial and/or Manufacturing Engineering Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing role at an automation site.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word; AutoCAD for 2D layouts; BasicMOST and MaxiMOST labor evaluation techniques preferred.
- Knowledge of financial analysis (IRR, NPV, Payback) and cost modeling inputs; experience with simulation; ability to build financial cases for automation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; capable of collaborating in cross-functional teams and managing multiple tasks.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to plant sites. Nice to Have
