About the Role Mott MacDonald’s Water Consultancy Division is a centre of excellence for water and wastewater challenges. As a Senior Hydrologist you will join the Water Resources and Flooding sector, contributing hydrology, hydrogeology, climate resilience and related disciplines across the project life cycle. What You'll Do
- Apply hydrology and water systems modelling to understand water availability during droughts and support water supply planning.
- Develop and implement hydrological forecasting systems and climate-change impact assessments using global/regional projections.
- Carry out flood hydrology studies and hydropower feasibility studies, including design floods and energy verification.
- Contribute to climate change risk assessments for assets or portfolios; support regulatory engagement and client deliverables.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and develop skills in project management and business development within the water sector.
- Engage with clients and stakeholder groups to deliver high-impact, societally valuable outcomes. What We're Looking For
- Essential:
- Relevant degree (hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or related discipline).
- Knowledge of low flows hydrology, rainfall-runoff modelling, or UKCP18/CMIP5/6 climate projections.
- Willingness to innovate.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Desirable:
- Understanding of UK water resources management planning regulatory requirements.
- Experience in rainfall-runoff modelling packages such as GR6J, Catchmod or PDM.
- Experience in water systems modelling tools like Aquator, WEAP or Pywr.
- Coding or statistical analysis techniques. Nice to Have
